Madrid, 15 December 2025.
Born in the heart of Spain and in collaboration with Important Looking Pirates, a world class team of VFX professionals have come together to form METROPOLIS VFX.
David Ramos, VFX Supervisor, Oscar Perea Marcos, VFX Supervisor Gonzalo Escudero, Executive Producer, Laura Muro, Bidding Producer and Rocío Ruiz de Azúa, VFX Producer are the founding members of the new vfx studio. All of them are seasoned professionals, with previous wide experience at companies such as Framestore, The Mill, RodeoFX, El Ranchito and ILM, having taken part on shows that span from Star Wars Episode I and Saving Private Ryan to Game of Thrones, Stranger Things or The Three Body Problem and have shared with ILP shows like Westworld, Lost in Space, Death by Lightning and Game of Thrones throughout the years.
With 2 Emmy and 3 VES awards credited to the founding team, the new studio has ambitions to redefine Spanish VFX from small town to gleaming metropolis. Named after the iconic building in Madrid, METROPOLIS VFX intends to be a world-class destination for complex CG, environments, FX simulations and advanced compositing.
Closely collaborating with ILP on the infrastructure and pipeline side, Metropolis is going to focus on local talent in order to be fully eligible for the Spanish rebates. With a few projects in the pipe, the studio is assembling a team of senior artists and production personnel with the goal to be 50-80 people next year.
As part of Dream Machine FX, Metropolis will also work seamlessly with partners around the globe, including FIN in Australia, Zero in Boston/Montreal and Mavericks in Toronto.
