The shoot took place off the island of Majorca in sweltering 40 degree heat and featured world-ranked hydroflight athlete, Lindsay McQueen who doubled as a fisherman.
We received great plates from the shoot, but as they were shot in the mediterranean they lacked icebergs and arctic type water.
ILP created a full CG environment including water surfaces, icebergs and elements to bridge and balance the mix between live action plate and CG. This environment was lit to achieve "golden hour" lighting. We also created the school of fish that was chased by Lindsay.
To be able to create a large selection of icebergs in various shapes and sizes, we created them with a procedural approach. The basic shapes of the icebergs were sculpted and got they're final look using procedural texturing and displacement.
Lindsay was rotoscoped together with the jets of water coming from his hydroflight board, which then had to be enhanced with particle simulations to make it all blend in with the CG environment.
We had a great collaboration with the director, production company and agency, which you can see in the fine end result!
