Once again we had the pleasure of helping our friends at b-reel with vfx for the new Axe campaign.
Important Looking Pirates supplied b-reel with a 22 seconds long x-ray clip of a biker that performs
an impossible trick, the legendary "Double Pits to Chesty". It was then topped off with some beautiful graphics by b-reel.

We started this year collaborating with Brokendoll
once again, creating the effects for this warm
piece. The film is about showing how district heating is a very environmentally friendly way of
heating your home. Real change always starts at
grass root level as the voiceover says.
From the visual effects point of view, the film
contains a bit of everything from CG cracks, grass and flowers to blue screens composites and 2D mattepaintings.
Watch our latest project, an epic camera move from the close up of a sign - out into space. ILP finished off the year 2008 by doing a 30 second spot for SWE and Fastighetsbyrån, "sold".
Due to the complex nature of the continuous camera movement the spot is made up almost entirely of CG with a mix of different footage and techniques.
We based camera projections on footage from a crane and helicopter shoot in västerås. Our earth is made up of a mix of images from the National Geodata surveying Center and NASA's "Blue Marble Next Generation" series of images, continuing into a space built fully in 3D.
The successful end result is the product of a much rewarding cooperation with Swe/Swe Film, who put trust in ILP´s capability in solving problems as they arose and putting down the hours where they were needed the most. We thank Swe for the confidence.
Robert Gottlieb & Guillermo Lecouna of Fox Sports Design awarded us with an exciting project for Sylvania HD TV, "All the details", that is to run during the Chicago Blackhawk games.
The time schedule was tight, considering the massive particle work and rendering involved, but thanks to all the great people at Fox Sports and a dedicated ILP team, we managed to produce a spot that we are thoroughly proud of whilst having great fun doing so.

ILP has finished the effects work on three sale spots for Ikea Germany directed by Hof Production.
Impossible tricks needed to be performed - what better way to accomplish that than with a little CG help!
Our dear friends at brokendoll did the rebranding of SVT2, a Swedish public service television channel. We helped them out with the particle work in their fantastic design.

Every year SVT airs an annual Christmas show, changing from year to year. "Skägget i brevlådan" was to include several minutes of CG. Important Looking Pirates had the honor of building a large full CG city with a futuristic look. The big challenge here was to make it flexible and alive. A lot of customized tools where built along the road to get us where we wanted to.

Together with our long time friends Brokendoll, we took a step into the beautiful world of motion graphics, creating a spot for University of South Australia. Brokendoll created some beautiful style frames from a solid concept by Jamshop, and we had the pleasure of bringing it to life.
A really interesting and challenging project left us hungry for more!
We are happy to present our latest work for the new climate campaign
by Vattenfall. In this spot we get to follow a struggling polar bear
on his journey in a harsh world with rapidly changing climate.
Important Looking Pirates did the post and visual effects work for
this 45 sec commercial. Since the entire commercial is based on
stock footage, one of the biggest challenges was to tie everything
together. Besides all of the particle work, almost all of the shots
needed extensive compositing and matte paintings for them to fit in
both storytelling and look wise.

Geisha is a chocolate bar that wants to give beauty and love to everyday life.
In this commercial we see cherry blossoms springing up through pavements and fill the skies on an ordinary Tokyo day.
This was an exciting project where Important looking pirates completed a series of complicated VFX shots
including cracking concrete, growing plants and filling of the Tokyo sky with swirling cherry blossoms.
To reintroduce the Doritos classic Taco & Four Cheese flavors, B-Reel collaborated with Goodby,
Silverstein & Partners to create a truly frightening Halloween campaign set in a haunted hotel.
Important Looking Pirates lent B-reel a helping hand in the VFX creation for this massive web campaign.
ILP’s two main tasks was to warp and add digital makeup to a little girls face to make her look more scary
and to light, render and animate three full CG shots of the corridors in the hotel. We also did a light effect
when the visitor gets sucked into a magical photograph.

Warning! Not for the faint of heart.
Earlier this summer Important Looking Pirates delivered a stunning digital portray
of the Swedish country side for the Zaragoza world fair. The film is a six minute long
360 degree view of a dynamic transforming landscape that takes us through the four seasons,
from dusk till dawn. The work was based on a still photo of a typical swedish landscape.
We used that as a foundation to turn it into 10K matte paintings, on which we added animated
rain, snow, leafs and CG water.
105 countries participated in the fair. In the 650 square meter Swedish section,
you could find a big set with 84 Swedish birches and a designed glulam tree house.
This set was then encapsulated by a big circular screen where 16 projectors where used
to display the digital landscape.
Important Looking Pirates just finished the visual effects work
for a new volkswagen commercial directed by Filip Tellander of St Paul.
The 45 second spot features a stylistic desert racing track setting where we get
to follow the meticulous tests of the new Passat GT Sport TDI.
ILP was involved at an early stage of the process and worked closely with the
director in planning the effects work. It was key to not to make this into an
effects driven commercial but rather let the effects work support the story and
the mood. ILP did a lot of extension of fruit and cakes, digital lollipops and also
enhanced many of the shots with more pieces of fruit and debris flying about to give the
shots more impact.
Another big part of the work was all the clean ups, sky replacements
and matte paintings to make sure the film had a solid continuity in the clean and strict
style Filip was going for.
In rainy februari, with very little time and fingers frozen stiff, we supervised on set and did the visual effects for Viasats new spots,“Flex Pack 2.0”, promoting the viewers personal choice.
In a unique collaboration with Oscar Magnuson Spectacles we
created six new species evolved from the spectacular spring collection.
The films were displayed exclusively at a one evening show in Gallery Odea, Stockholm.

We are proud to announce that Niklas Jacobson from Important Looking
Pirates lead the look development team and the extensive lighting work on
againstallodds' new campaign for Coke Zero. Also, Important Looking Pirates
helped develop a dynamic setup and look development for the bubbles and foam which
enabled us to complete and render a series of complicated effects shots for the commercials.
The campaign was produced by againstallodds with Weiden & Kennedy in Amsterdam through Passion Pictures.
